Wine importer Aaron Meeker is joining us on Tuesday, February 24, for a pairing dinner featuring eight wines representing the exciting developments in modern South African winemaking. Chef Andy will prepare five courses to match. Aaron is National Sales Manager for Vine Street Imports, one of our favorite import partners with an impressive collection of underappreciated wines, including an exceptional portfolio of wines from S Africa. He will guide us through the regions and grapes of South Africa in a comparative tasting alongside Andy’s food.
In 2024, Vine Street Imports celebrated 25 years in business, no small feat for a company specializing in unheralded wines and tiny producers from places like South Africa, Australia, and England. Indeed, all of the producers we’ll feature at this dinner only make a couple of thousand cases each year. Despite their minuscule production, these wineries are achieving international acclaim: e.g., Vinous named a syrah from Paarl producer Van Loggerenberg its #2 wine of 2025. We think you’ll be similarly enamored with what they have to offer.
Aaron himself is a wealth of knowledge. He’s been kind enough to offer our staff classes on South African wine in the past, and no doubt he’ll be able to pass along some of that information throughout our dinner as well.
